Report: European club emerge as contender for defender heavily-linked to Spurs

There have been plenty of twists and turns so far in Tottenham Hotspur’s rumoured pursuit of Beijing Guoan defender Kim Min-jae.

It was reported at one point last month that Spurs were on the verge of landing the South Korean international (Sports.news.naver via TEAMtalk).

However, the speculation was soon dismissed after it emerged that Beijing Guoan did not wish to sell the central defender unless they receive a considerable transfer fee (Sky Sports).

Dutch publication Eindhovens Dagblad now claim that PSV Eindhoven have identified Kim as the man to strengthen their backline and are set to make a move for his signature

PSV head coach Joe Schmidt is said to rate the 23-year-old very highly and wants to bring him to the Philips Stadion this summer.

The report suggests that Kim is keen to leave Beijing and prove himself in Europe.

It is claimed that while Beijing Guoan were not initially interested in selling the defender, they have now softened their stance due to the player’s desire to leave.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on what we heard from journalists close to Spurs, there was definitely some interest in Kim (Football.London). It is rather puzzling how our interest sees to have died down all of a sudden. Perhaps, it is an indication that another central defensive option opened up.

Given that Inter still are reportedly keen on Ndombele, I would certainly not rule out a possible swap deal with Milan Skriniar. The club could be waiting to see what will come off that deal before moving for Kim.
