Report: European club enter the race to sign Giovani Lo Celso

Tottenham have been linked with Real Betis midfielder Giovani Lo Celso right from the beginning of the summer (BBC).

Recent reports (ABC Seville) have suggested that although the 23-year-old has handed in a transfer request due to his intention of playing Champions League football next season.

However, it is claimed that the lilywhites haven’t yet been able to meet Betis’ €75m asking price for the Argentine.

It has also been claimed that any move for the Argentina international will be dependent on Christian Eriksen leaving the club (Sky Sports) but the Dane is currently in Singapore with the rest of the Spurs squad on their pre-season tour of the far east.

Now, InformaBetisweb have claimed that SL Benfica are also extremely keen on signing Lo Celso and have already made an offer for the former PSG man.

The Portuguese giants are flush with cash after selling wonder kid Joao Felix to Atletico Madrid for £113 million (BBC).

Betis are reported to be close to completing the signing of Nabil Fekir from Lyon suggesting that they are planning to part ocmpany Lo Celso this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

This could well be Betis’ way of getting Spurs to increase their offer by leaking news about Benfica’s interest to the press. Regardless, it is clear that Lo Celso wants to come to Tottenham and we believe he will be a brilliant signing if we do manage to pull it off.
