Report: European club keen on Harry Winks; player said to be open to switch

According to a report from Spanish news outlet AS, Valencia are keen on signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Winks has fallen down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho over recent months but the midfielder has started Tottenham’s last two Premier League games against both Wolves and Leeds, respectively.

Jose Mourinho has ruled out the chances of Spurs letting the 24-year-old leave during the January transfer window but AS suggest that a move to Valencia could be on the cards for the England international.

The report claims that Winks is Valencia’s number one target this month and that Tottenham are aware of the La Liga club’s interest.

The midfielder is said to be open to the idea of spending six months on loan at the Mestalla to allow him to get regular game time under his belt in a bid to secure his place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the European Championships next summer.

The report suggests that Winks’ wages would be a problem to Valencia and that Daniel Levy could also demand a loan fee, which could put the deal beyond the Spanish club.

While this transfer rumour might have been deserving of our attention a couple of weeks ago, Winks has now seemingly won his place back in the Tottenham starting eleven. He put in quite an impressive display against Leeds on Saturday and I cannot see Mourinho letting him go this month.
