Report: European club make contact with Spurs player’s agent over potential summer switch

Toby Alderweireld has emerged as a transfer target for PSV Eindhoven, according to De Telegraaf.

The Belgian international has previously played in Holland having come through the academy ranks at PSV’s fierce rivals Ajax Amsterdam.

Alderweireld has forged an impressive central defensive partnership with Eric Dier this season under Jose Mourinho, with the pair featuring in the majority of Tottenham’s Premier League fixtures (transfermarkt).

The 31-year-old signed a contract extension in December 2019 which committed his future to the club until 2023 (BBC).

The report claims that PSV have made contact with the defender’s agent to sound him out to see whether he would consider a return to Holland at the end of the current campaign.

Alderweireld has at least a couple of years still at the top based on his current form and whether he would actually consider a move to PSV having played for Ajax would certainly be a big decision for him.
