Report: European club open talks to sign 23-year-old Spurs man on permanent deal

Football Insider have reported that AEL Limassol and Tottenham have now opened talks over a potential permanent deal for Anthony Georgiou.

The 23-year-old is out of contract in the summer, meaning there are only six months left on his current Spurs deal.

The report adds that Jose Mourinho does not see the player as a part of his plans, with Georgiou having only appeared twice for the U21 side this season (TransferMarkt).

Georgiou last signed a new Tottenham contract in 2019 but has been starved of game time throughout his Lilywhites career.

He has only ever made one senior competitive appearance for Spurs and has been loaned out to the likes of Levante B, Bolton Wanderers, and Ipswich Town in recent years (Wikipedia).

It appears that, after joining the North Londoners in 2013 from the Watford academy, Georgiou may finally be parting ways with Tottenham in 2021.

Football Insider report that the deal would be ‘cut-price’, implying that Spurs would still receive some sort of fee.
