Report: European giant become contenders for Tottenham star’s signature

Christian Eriksen missed Tottenham Hotspur’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Watford yesterday after failing to recover from a dead leg he suffered on international duty (Spurs official).

The Dane wasted no time after the Champions League final defeat at the hands of Liverpool when he revealed that he wanted to seek a new challenge away from North London whilst inviting interest from Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

Despite his desire to leave, Eriksen found himself still a Tottenham player beyond the closure of the summer transfer window.

The 27-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and can walk away as a free agent at such time.

The Mail report that Paris Saint-Germain have now become contenders for the playmaker’s signature and are looking to hijack Real Madrid’s interest in the player.

The report suggests that Eriksen has snubbed the opportunity to sign a new contract which has led Tottenham to try and sell him in January, which represents their last opportunity to try and receive a transfer fee.

PSG are prepared to offload some of their current midfield options in order to make room for Eriksen with Julian Draxler and Leandro Paredes most likely to depart.
