Report: European giant denies they have discussed transfer with Tottenham

Christian Eriksen’s future at Tottenham Hotspur continues to be uncertain with the midfielder out of contract at the end of the season.

The 27-year-old playmaker revealed just days after the Champions League final defeat to Liverpool in June that he wanted to seek a new challenge away from North London whilst inviting interest from Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

A move to the Spanish giants failed to materialise and the Dane still finds himself playing for Spurs.

Reports from the player’s homeland last week claimed that Inter Milan had won the race to sign the former Ajax man in January for £20million (Ekstra Bladet).

However, Inter director Giuseppe Marotta was asked about the speculation linking Eriksen with a move to the Serie A league leaders and claimed that they had not been in contact with Tottenham.

Eriksen is expected to attract attention from across Europe when he becomes available on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.

Marotta told TMW: “Very often, Inter and important names are linked. On the one hand it flatters us, but I have to say that we’ve had no contact with Tottenham. He expires in June, he is an excellent player but the race belongs to many teams as is normal for important players. I’m not here to say that we’ll start negotiations, but I simply say that he is an interesting player.”
