AC Milan have moved to the front in the race to sign Stuttgart central defender Ozan Kabak.
According to Italian news outlet Calcio Mercato, the Serie A giants are keen to tie up a deal for the 19-year-old who has impressed this season but was unable to help his side avoid relegation from the Bundesliga.
The Turkish international moved from Galatasaray to Stuttgart in January for €11million (£9.9million) (Turkish Football News), his contract has a release clause of £13.2million which has sparked interest from a number of European clubs.
North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal were both linked with a move for the player earlier this month but it appears that both sides could be set to miss out (Daily Mail).
Spurs could be in the market for a new central defender if Toby Alderweireld leaves the club this summer with his £25million transfer release clause making him an attractive option for potential suitors.
Sampdoria’s Joachim Andersen has also been linked with a move to both Spurs and Arsenal and is another potential successor to Alderweireld (Evening Standard).
