Report: European giant open discussions with agent of Spurs star

Inter Milan are in discussions with Christian Eriksen’s representatives over a possible move to Italy.

Sky Italy (as reported by their UK counterpart Sky Sports) are claiming that Inter are one of several clubs who have made contact with the Dane’s agent and would prefer to sign him on a free transfer.

Eriksen wasted no time following Tottenham’s Champions League final defeat in June to express his desire to leave the club whilst also inviting interest from Real Madrid (Ekstra Bladet).

The 27-year-old is out of contract in North London at the end of the current season and is now able to hold discussions with clubs on the continent following the opening of the January transfer window over a pre-contract agreement which would see him move on a free transfer at the end of the current campaign.

The report claims that Juventus are also monitoring the situation with Inter wary of the interest of their Serie A rivals. Inter are said to be primarily focused on signing Arturo Vidal from Barcelona,

The January window represents the last opportunity for Spurs to cash in on their playmaker if he is unwilling to sign a new deal.

Opinion

Eriksen will be able to command a much more lucrative contract and signing on fee if he leaves on a free transfer at the end of the season. At 27, his next contract is likely to be the biggest and most important of his career.
