Report: European giants accelerating talks to sign Spurs defender

Foot Mercato have claimed that Paris Saint-Germain have now stepped up their efforts to re-sign Serge Aurier this summer. Tottenham signed Aurier from PSG back in the summer of 2017.

Although the Ivorian has demonstrated glimpses of his quality since arriving from Paris, he has never quite managed to put together a string of consistent performances like Spurs would have hoped for.

It looks like the right-back’s time in North London is about to come to an end, with reports indicating that Tottenham are willing to listen to offers for the 28-year-old, who has just over 12 months left on his contract.

While a return to PSG was mooted as a possibility for Aurier, some sources have revealed that AC Milan and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the defender.

Foot Mercato now claim that the Ligue 1 giants’ negotiations for Aurier with Spurs are ‘progressing’, with the Premier League club willing to sell the player for €12m (£10.3m).

It is explained that Aurier shares a good relationship with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and that Mauricio Pochettino is in favour of bringing the right-back to Parc des Princes.

Spurs Web Opinion

With no news emerging regarding a new deal for Aurier, it now looks certain that Spurs will be cashing in on the right-back. However, it is interesting that Foot Mercato seem to be suggesting that Pochettino is in favour of signing Aurier as the Argentine did not seem to fancy the Ivorian during his time in North London.
