Report: European giants agree £72.5m fee with rumoured Spurs target

According to a report by Sky Sports, Juventus are set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Arthur Melo after agreeing to a £72.5m with Barcelona for the midfielder’s signature this summer.

Jose Mourinho is said to be keen on bringing the 23-year-old to North London this summer, with Spurs reportedly willing to offer a player plus cash deal to land the Barca star (Mundo Deportivo).

Although the midfielder is still highly thought of at the Catalan giants, it is said that he is one of the players which the club have transfer listed as they look to reduce their wage bill due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic (The Sun).

Sky Sports now report that Juventus have now agreed on a fee with Barcelona for Arthur but it is suggested that the current Serie A champions are still trying to convince the midfielder to make the move to Turin.

It is said that the Brazilian prefers to stay and fight for his place at the Camp Nou.

However, Juve boss Maurizio Sarri is said to be intent on building his midfield around Arthur and the Italian giants are said to be hopeful of persuading him to make the switch.

Spurs Web Opinion

Out of the various Barcelona players that we have been linked with so far this summer, Arthur is the one that I want the most. If we are to let Tanguy Ndombele leave to Barca, then I hope we would be pushing to have the Brazilian included in the deal. However, it does seem like the talented young midfielder is Juve bound.
