Report: European giants could move for Pochettino in the summer

A report by the Independent has revealed that Real Madrid are considering a possible swoop for former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino in the summer.

Pochettino is still out of work after parting ways with Tottenham back in November after a poor start to the campaign which saw the club suffer humiliated in cup competitions at the hands of Bayern Munich and Colchester United along with finding themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table.

While Tottenham’s results initially improved after Jose Mourinho replaced the Argentine at the helm, the team’s form has been extremely poor in recent weeks, causing some Spurs fans to wonder why the club let Pochettino go.

The 48-year-old is one of the most in-demand managers in the world at the moment, having been linked with both tManchester United (the Mirror) and Manchester City (the Express) recently.

The Independent now claims he is the Real Madrid’s hierarchy’s preferred choice to replace Zinedine Zidane in the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

The report reveals that the Frenchman’s relationship with some of his players is strained and that he is expected to leave in the summer.

It is suggested that Los Blancos are aware of Pochettino’s intention to return to work in the summer and are said to be maintaining an open line of dialogue with the former Spurs boss regarding his future.

Spurs Web Opinion

I really do hope that Pochettino joins Real Madrid as it would be extremely painful to see him in the dugout of another English club. Pochettino deserves to win trophies at his next job and he has a much better chance of doing that at Madrid than at Manchester United.
