Report: European giants have made decision on midfielder amidst Spurs links

According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are open to cashing on rumoured Tottenham target Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer.

Wijnaldum has struggled to get consistent starts for PSG since sealing a free transfer to the Ligue 1 giants last summer after his contract at Liverpool ran out.

The Netherlands international was reportedly on Tottenham’s radar during the January transfer window (90 min).

It was even reported at the time that Wijnaldum could be offered to Spurs as part of a deal to take Tanguy Ndombele to the Parc des Princes on loan, which eventually fell through (The Daily Mail).

The move allegedly collapsed since the former Liverpool man did not wish to leave the Ligue 1 giants mid-season (Florian Plettenberg).

However, if L’Equipe’s latest update is to be believed, Wijnaldum could be on his way out of Paris when the transfer window reopens.

The report asserts that the 31-year-old is one of the players that Mauricio Pochettino’s side would be willing to cash in on at the end of the season.

Wijnaldum would be a good fit for Conte’s system, given his engine, athleticism and technical quality. He would also be able to make an instant impact since he is used to the Premier League.

However, the Dutchman does not fit the profile of players Paratici has tended to target as part of Tottenham’s rebuild, particularly given that he is on the wrong side of 30.
