Report: European giants name asking price for Spurs-linked defender

According to the latest reports from Italy, Barcelona are ready to sell rumoured Tottenham Hotspur target Emerson this summer.

With recent reports indicating that Serge Aurier (Sport Mediaset) and Kyle Walker-Peters (Dan Kilpatrick) could both be on their way out of North London this summer, it is not surprising to see that the club have been linked with a whole host of right-backs.

Emerson’s name is among those that have been mentioned as targets for the Lilywhites (Sun), on the back of the excellent season the Brazilian has had on loan at Real Betis, who own 50% of the player.

As we have reported previously, Barcelona have the option to purchase the right-back for €9million (£8m).

TuttoMercatoWeb now claims that the Catalans are indeed ready to take up the purchase option and cash in on Emerson this summer. It is claimed that the Catalan giants value the 21-year-old at around €30m (£27m).

The report claims that AC Milan are interested in Emerson but are only willing to pay around €20m (£18m) for the full-back.

Milan’s interest might be significant for Spurs given that the Serie A giants have also been suggested as the most likely destination for Aurier this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would imagine Milan would not buy both Emerson and Aurier. So, if they get the Brazilian, not only will that take a potential option out of the window for us, but it will also hinder our chances of selling Aurier if that is indeed what the club wants to do. If we do sell both Aurier and Walker-Peters, we would need to sign two right-backs this summer. However, my gut feeling is that Aurier will stay but that we will try to bring in a potential upgrade like Celik or Castagne for the Ivorian to compete with.
