Report: European giants willing to offload defender previously wanted by Spurs

Bayern Munich are willing to sell centre half Jerome Boateng, who is said to be interesting Tottenham Hotspur.

Spurs were linked with a move for Boateng during the January transfer window (Bleacher Report) but the defender ended up staying with Bundesliga giants. However, he has lost his regular place in the Bayern side this season.

Jose Mourinho has also reportedly prioritised rebuilding the Tottenham backline in the summer (the Express).

Bild now reveal that the World Cup winner is surplus to requirements at Bayern Munich beyond this season and is expected to leave the Allianz Arena in the summer.

The experienced centre-half is not likely to be very expensive, with the Daily Mail claiming in January that Bayern were willing to sell the former Man City man for just £12.8 million.

Spurs Web Opinion

With Eric Dier being moved back into centre-half, and with Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga still having their best years ahead of them, I expect Jose to target an experienced centre-half in the summer to replace Vertonghen. Boateng certainly fits the bill and could be a prudent acquisition.
