Report: European side looking to recruit two Spurs players this summer

Anderlecht are said to be considering a double swoop for Tottenham goalkeeping duo Michel Vorm and Jonathan De Bie, according to reports from Belgium.

Vorm left Spurs at the end of last season but returned on a deal until the end of the current campaign after Hugo Lloris dislocated his elbow against Brighton in October.

The 36-year-old has unsurprisingly seen little game time since his return to North London but he did feature in the FA Cup tie against Norwich City, which Tottenham lost on penalties.

De Bie, captained Tottenham at Under-18 level but has struggled for game time for the club’s Under-23 team (transfermarkt) is also out of contract in the summer and could return to his native Belgium (Het Nieuwsblad).

Belgian publication DH (as relayed by Sport Witness) now claim that Anderlecht, who are managed by former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany, will try to sign both De Bie and Vorm this summer.

The report suggests that Kompany wants to bring in Vorm to compete for a starting role while De Bie will likely be the club’s third choice if he arrives.

Spurs Web Opinion

Whether they end up at Anderlecht or somewhere else it is clear that both Vorm and De Bie are on their way out and neither player is going to get a contract extension. We are likely to be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer.

Despite the big names we’ve been linked with, I cannot see us spending big money to compete with Hugo Lloris for the number one spot as we are likely to prioritise additions in other areas this summer. We will probably bring someone in as a back up to Lloris and Gazzaniga.
