Report: Everton and Inter competing for star as Spurs move ‘further away’

CalcioMercato have revealed that Everton and Inter Milan are currently the front-runners to sign rumoured Tottenham target, Joaquin Correa.

Reports emanating from Italy claimed last month that Fabio Paratici was keen on snapping up Correa, who was rumoured to be valued at £34m.

Correa is thought to be considered surplus to requirements by Maurizio Sarri, with the former Chelsea boss looking to cash in on the midfielder and reinvest that money into wide players in order to adopt his favoured 4-3-3.

Some sources have even indicated that Spurs had previously offered Lazio €30m (£25.6m) for the 26-year-old.

If the latest update by CalcioMercato is to be believed, Tottenham’s interest in the 26-year-old may have cooled.

The report states that Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain are ‘currently further away’ in the pursuit of the attacking midfielder.

Everton’s interest in the Argentina international is said to be ‘strong’ but it is Inter who have moved to the front of the queue for the player in the ‘last hours’.

Simone Inzaghi is allegedly keen on reuniting with Correa at the San Siro and it is asserted that the Nerrazuri are ready to battle it out with the Toffees for the Lazio man.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is not surprising that Spurs are seemingly hesitant to get into a bidding war for Correa as Nuno does not tend to operate with a number ten.

The position is certainly not as much a priority for the club to strengthen this summer as central defence, right-back and central midfield.
