Report: Everton could make a move for Tottenham star in January window

Brazilian journalist Marcelo Hazan has claimed on De Primeira show on UOL (as translated by Sport Witness) that Everton hold an interest in signing Lucas Moura.

It has now been confirmed that this will be Moura’s final season at Tottenham after the North London club decided not to activate the option to extend the winger’s current deal, which runs out in the summer.

The Telegraph revealed last week that the option to extend the 30-year-old’s contract by one year had to be activated by the end of 2022, which Spurs decided against doing.

The Atheltic subsequently claimed that Moura would prefer to leave the Lilywhites as a free agent at the end of the season rather than during the current transfer window.

However, if Hazan’s latest update is to be believed, a move to Goodison Park could be on the cards for the former Paris Saint-Germain star within the next couple of weeks.

The journalist claims that Frank Lampard’s men could make a move for Moura to aid their bid to stay in the Premier League.

Tottenham would likely be willing to sell Moura this window, particularly with the club looking set to sign an attacker, as they would want to get a fee for him. However, the Brazilian might prefer to leave as a free agent in the summer so that he can get a more lucrative contract and have more options to choose from.
