Report: Everton decide against move for Spurs man after Lampard’s ‘extensive due diligence’

Everton have decided against pursuing a move for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks, according to i News.

The report claims that Toffees manager Frank Lampard conducted ‘extensive due diligence’ on the 26-year-old and has now decided to look elsewhere to bolster his midfield options.

Winks has been heavily linked with a move to Goodison Park with the Liverpool Echo reporting earlier this week that the Toffees were keen to land the England international on an initial loan deal.

The Spurs academy product is also said to have attracted interest from three other Premier League clubs, along with La Liga outfit Sevilla.

Winks’ time at Tottenham looks to be dead in the water with the arrival of Yves Bissouma pushing him further down the pecking order behind the likes of Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

His career has stalled since the departure of Mauricio Pochettino and needs to be playing regular first-team elsewhere in order to regain his confidence and become even half the player he was when he first came onto the scene.
