Report: Everton hoping to avoid what Spurs have experienced in managerial hunt

Everton are said to be hoping to avoid the backlash which Tottenham Hotspur have experienced from supporters in their search for a new manager, according to Calciomercato.

The Toffees were left without a manager when Carlo Ancelotti surprisingly left the club to return to Real Madrid following the departure of Zinedine Zidane.

Everton are said to have held talks with former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez with some supporters having hung banners outside Goodison Park in protest at the prospect of the Spaniard taking charge of the blue half of Merseyside (Daily Mail).

Many Tottenham fans took to social media to voice their displeasure at the club reported to have been in talks with Gennaro Gattuso following his alleged controversial previous comments about the role of women in football and same sex marriage (Metro).

ESPN claimed that Spurs decided to pull the plug on appointing the Italian due to the backlash received from their own fans.
