Report: Everton interested in Tottenham winger

Tottenham Hotspur winger Steven Bergwijn is attracting interest from fellow Premier League side Everton, according to the Daily Mail.

Bergwijn has publicly revealed in an interview with AD last week that he would like to leave north London this summer during the current transfer window in order to get regular first-team football.

The former PSV player has also been the subject of attention from Ajax with the Dutch giants said to have had a £17million bid rejected last week.

Bergwijn has found opportunities few and far between under Antonio Conte with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Moura, Harry Kane and Heung-min Son all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Everton narrowly escaped relegation from the Premier League last season with Frank Lampard about to enter his first full transfer window since taking charge of the Toffees late in January.

Bergwijn missed out on selection for the Dutch national squad for last summer’s Euro 2020 and has been in impressive form as of late for his country as he looks to make the cut for this winter’s World Cup in Qatar.

A move back to Ajax and the prospect of Champions League football seems more logical for Bergwijn, however, Everton certainly won’t have any issues in meeting Spurs’ asking price.

Ajax need to move quickly and secure the services of the 24-year-old before other clubs start registering their interest.
