Report: Premier League club have now offered Bergwijn better terms than Ajax

Everton have made Steven Bergwijn a stronger contract offer than Ajax and look as though they are willing to meet Tottenham’s asking price, according to De Telegraaf.

It has been claimed the Toffees have offered better personal terms than the Dutch side to sign the 24-year-old after holding concrete interest for weeks.

Although the figure is not stated, the report adds that Ajax are prepared to match the transfer fee demanded by Spurs, however, Bergwijn favours a move to Amsterdam due to the lure of Champions League football.

It comes after Tottenham reportedly offered Bergwijn to Everton themselves in a bid to secure a deal for Richarlison (The Telegraph).

The Brazil international has been heavily linked with a move to North London in recent weeks with further reports claiming Spurs have made a £100 million bid to land him alongside teammate Anthony Gordon (The Sun).

The Bergwijn transfer saga appears to be continuing, although this could be a decoy by Spurs into forcing Ajax to pay the requested sum of money.

Ajax do have to be careful, though, as there will definitely be plenty of clubs interested in the winger so they will be at risk of losing out on their main target.
