Report: Everton may have to sell Richarlison to Spurs fast to avoid risk of points deduction

The Irish Mirror have claimed that Everton are in danger of being hit with a points deduction if they do not raise funds through player sales before tomorrow as Tottenham continue to circle around Richarlison.

UOL Esporte journalist Bruno Andrade revealed on Tuesday that negotiations between Tottenham and Everton for Richarlison are moving in the right direction and an agreement of £60m could be stuck between the two clubs.

The Irish Mirror have now claimed that while Everton are reluctant to sell the striker, they face the risk of being sanctioned by the Premier League if they fail to comply with the profit and sustainability rules.

It is explained that the Toffees must raise funds to balance their books before the end of the financial year on June 30 and the only way they can do that is to sell one of their assets.

The report goes on to add that Everton have turned down a combined offer from Tottenham for Richarlison and Anthony Gordon, and are also reluctant to accept player plus cash deals.

Instead, Frank Lampard’s men are said to be standing firm on their £60m asking price for the 25-year-old.

The Irish Mirror add that Daniel Levy is aware of Everton’s financial distress and is thus expected to drive a hard bargain over the next 48 hours.

If Everton really thought they were at the risk of being handed a points deduction, they would have likely cashed in on Richarlison already. It is clear, however, that the Toffees would have to sell to buy this summer if they are to comply with FFP, which is why I expect the Brazilian to leave Goodison Park.
