Report: Everton midfielder contacts Spurs man over potential switch to Goodison

According to a report from Don Balon (as translated by TEAMtalk), James Rodriguez wants Everton to sign Tottenham defender, Davinson Sanchez.

Sanchez is international teammates with Rodriguez, as well as Yerry Mina, and the report suggests that the Everton stars could soon line up alongside the Spurs man on Merseyside, just as they do with Colombia.

Rodriguez is said to have contacted the 24-year-old about a potential switch to the Toffees and the Toffees would reportedly be ready to pay the centre-back’s €45m asking price.

The report adds that Rodriguez is enjoying life at Everton and plans to stay at the club for the long-term.

The former Real Madrid man is said to have given Sanchez a glowing assessment of both the club and the dressing room atmosphere.

However, Jose Mourinho apparently sees the centre-back as part of his plans and is not prepared to lose him just yet.

Sanchez’s current contract with Tottenham runs until 2024 and it is said that the former Ajax man will reassess his situation at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think there is any chance of us letting Sanchez leave in January. Jose Mourinho has backed him publicly following his mistake against West Ham last week and it is clear that he sees the Colombian as part of his plans. However, I suspect Jose views the central defender as someone he can upgrade on in the long-term and I would not be too surprised if we do sell him next summer if we were to bring in someone like Skriniar.
