Report: Everton set to make loan offer with option to buy for Tottenham player

Everton are planing to make a loan offer to sign Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, according to journalist Ekrem Konur.

The Toffees are interested in taking on the 26-year-old for the upcoming season and are keen to include an option to make the move permanent down the line.

The Evening Standard claims Winks has signalled his desire to leave his boyhood club this summer after struggling to earn regular minutes under Antonio Conte last term.

The arrival of Rodrigo Bentancur in January pushed him down the pecking order, while his place in the side is likely to be impacted further by the acquisition of Yves Bissouma from Brighton.

His future in North London was plunged even deeper into doubt after he was one of four Tottenham players to be left out of Antonio Conte’s pre-season squad for the tour of South Korea (Mirror).

Everton were linked with a move for Winks earlier in the summer (Liverpool Echo) but could now face competition from Southampton, who have recently emerged as potential suitors (Daily Mail).

Winks needs a change of scenery as it has grown increasingly obvious that he will not have a place in Conte’s immediate plans for next season.

Everton would be a decent place for him to go but Spurs will likely want to secure a permanent deal as soon as possible over a loan.
