Report: Everton submit transfer enquiry for Spurs star

Everton have submitted an enquiry to Tottenham Hotspur over the potential signing of Harry Winks, according to information obtained by The Beautiful Game Podcast.

Winks endured a difficult season last time out as he struggled to get regular game time under Jose Mourinho and he will be hoping to get his career back on track under Nuno Espirito Santo.

There have been a few contradictory reports regarding the midfielder’s future recently.

EuroSport claimed last week that Nuno was prepared to give the 25-year-old a chance to prove his worth but The Times claimed a few days ago that Spurs had put the midfielder up for sale and were willing to listen to offers for him.

The Beautiful Game Podcast have now backed up the Telegraph’s claim, suggesting that Spurs are ready to sell Winks.

The report asserts that Everton have now expressed their interest in the Spurs academy graduate, who the Lilywhites are willing to let go for around £25m this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

I think it is fair to say that most Spurs fans would be happy to sell Winks for £25m. I personally think that the midfielder can shine under the right system. I can see him being converted into a Jorginho-Esque deep-lying playmaker.

However, a move to Everton does not seem to be a particularly good fit for Winks. It is evident that the midfielder needs a fresh challenge and if I were him, I would be wanting to try my luck in Spain or Italy.
