Report: Ex-Spurs Danny Rose in talks over free transfer to Championship club

The Sun have revealed that former Tottenham Hotspur star, Danny Rose is in talks with Wigan Athletic over a potential move to the Championship.

The 32-year-old is currently a free agent, having parted ways with Watford this summer, and he is said to be willing to drop down to the Championship for his next move.

It is said that personal terms will unlikely prove difficult, with Rose keen on a move back further north, preferring the idea of Wigan over a transfer to AEK Athens despite talks with the Greek club.

Wigan already have a couple of options at left-back, but reportedly view Rose as an opportunity that is too good to be missed, such is his experience at the very top level for club and country.

Rose returned to Tottenham this summer to train at Hotspur Way, having spent well over a decade with the North London club and forging strong ties with the U21 set-up (Sun).

Spurs Web Opinion:

It’s always sad to think about how Rose’s career has fizzled out over the past few years. You get the feeling that he wanted his big move when Walker moved to Man City, and he perhaps made some poor judgement calls from that point onwards.
