Report: Experienced manager has said ‘no’ to Spurs as he waits on another job

According to a report from Spanish publication Diario AS, Massimiliano Allegri has said ‘no’ to Tottenham’s approach for the time being as he waits to see if the Real Madrid job becomes available.

Allegri, who dominated Italian football during his time at Juventus, has been out of work since leaving the Old Lady back in 2019.

The Italian coach is reportedly one of the names on Spurs’ radar to replace Jose Mourinho and it has been claimed that he is open to taking over at Tottenham, with his representatives having sounded out his interest to the club.

ESPN have claimed that Allegri is at the top of Real Madrid’s wishlist should Zinedine Zidane leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season.

AS have now backed up that claim, revealing that the former Juve boss fits the profile of coach that Los Blancos are looking for.

The report suggests that Spurs like Allegri ‘a lot’ and have approached him about taking over at the club but the experienced manager has told the North Londoners that he needs more time to think as he waits on developments at Real Madrid.

Alasdair Gold has stated that Tottenham have concerns over Allegri’s English but I would be surprised if Levy did not consider the Italian for the role given his impressive CV. The fact that there is so much uncertainty surrounding the future of Allegri and Conte could be why Levy is playing the waiting game.
