Report explains Bastoni’s contract situation amidst Spurs interest

InterLive.it have claimed that Inter Milan will look to address Alessandro Bastoni’s contract situation soon, amidst continued interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Bastoni’s poor start to the season continued over the weekend, with the centre-back being withdrawn just a little over 30 minutes into Inter’s encounter away at Udinese on Sunday.

CMW.it reported earlier this week that the 23-year-old voiced his anger on the bench at the Dacia Arena after being taken off so early, and suggested that Spurs might be paying attention to his situation.

The report claimed that should the Italy international fall out with Simone Inzaghi, Antonio Conte’s men could look to swoop for him.

Bastoni’s current contract at the San Siro runs out in the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt), and InterLive.it have now suggested that the Nerazzurri will need to address his renewal ‘as soon as possible’.

It is explained that the defender wants a salary of €10m (£8.7m) gross per year to sign a new deal, with the Serie A club having to ‘keep an eye on Tottenham’, who are said to be lurking in the background.

Spurs Web Opinion

It will be interesting to see if Spurs test the waters with a bid for Bastoni in January if the centre-back does not sign a new contract before then.

Perhaps, the North London club will want to seize an opportunity to sign the 23-year-old before there is increased competition for his signature next summer.
