Report explains Conte’s stance on Bryan Gil ahead of January window

Super Deporte report that Antonio Conte has told the Tottenham hierarchy they need to sign a replacement before allowing Bryan Gil to leave on loan.

Gil spent the second half of last season on loan at Valencia and the print edition of AS (01/12/22 – as relayed by Sport Witness) reported earlier this week that the La Liga club are plotting to re-sign the winger on loan in January.

The report explained that the 21-year-old would be ‘delighted’ to return to the Mestalla after having established close relationships with some of the players at the club last season.

Valencia’s interest in re-signing Gil has now been backed up by Super Deporte, who explain that the Tottenham man is one of several options that Gennaro Gattuso’s men are keeping an eye on ahead of January.

The report reveals that the Spanish club were close to re-signing the former Sevilla man on loan during the summer but Spurs blocked the move since they could not secure a replacement.

It is explained that while the North London club are open to sanctioning a loan deal this time, Conte’s stance has not changed, with the Italian telling the Lilywhites hierarchy that an attacking player needs to be signed before the Spain international could be let go.

Spurs Web Opinion

It makes total sense for Conte to ask for a replacement, particularly given how stretched we were in the front end of the pitch over recent months as a result of a couple of injuries. I fully expect Tottenham to sign a winger who is comfortable playing on the right in January and to sanction Gil’s loan move to Valencia.
