Report explains details as on-loan Spurs man Destiny Udogie picks up injury

Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed that Destiny Udogie missed Udinese’s clash against Lecce on Friday due to a muscle injury.

Udogie, who was loaned back to Udinese in the summer after Tottenham snapped him up for an initial £15m fee (Sky Sports), has had an impressive start to the campaign.

The 19-year-old already has three goal contributions in the Serie A this season (transfermarkt) and reports indicate that Antonio Conte is delighted with his progress and is ‘rubbing his hands together’ at the prospect of working with the teenager next season (Tuttosport).

However, Di Marzio has now revealed that Udogie has suffered an injury setback, which is why he did not make the matchday squad for Udinese’s 1-1 draw with Lecce on Friday. The journalist states that the left wing-back felt discomfort in his flexor a few hours before kick-off.

It is explained that the extent of Udogie’s injury is not yet clear and we will have confirmation over the weekend whether he will play a part in Udinese’s two Serie A matches before the mid-season break for the World Cup.

Let us hope this is not a serious injury and that Udogie only missed the game on Friday as a precaution. The youngster has been coming along impressively this season and the last thing that he and Spurs would want is for him to be sidelined for a few months, thus potentially slowing down his development.
