Report explains how Arne Slot can be ‘overpowering’ and tricky to work with amid Spurs links

The Daily Mail have revealed that Feyenoord have been frustrated at the manner in which Arne Slot’s agent has been offering the head coach to various clubs around Europe.

Arne Slot appears to be edging closer to a move to Tottenham, with Football Insider even reporting on Monday that the North London club could confirm the capture of the Dutch coach by the end of this week.

The Mail have now claimed that Feyenoord have been aware for a while now that their head coach could seek to make a bigger step this summer.

The report alleges that tensions at the club have been exacerbated in recent weeks as it has become clear to those at the Eredivisie club that Slot is using his success at De Kuip as leverage to secure a more prestigious job.

However, it is explained that most of Feyenoord’s anger has been directed at the 44-year-old’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, who has been trying to get his client a move away from Rotterdam.

The publication also reveals that some at Feyenoord have not found Slot to be the easiest to work with due to the level of control he wants, with some describing him as ‘overpowering’.

The outlet adds that a number of the club’s scouts and recruitment specialists recently left because of the way the Dutchman insisted they operate.

So, it is suggested that if Slot is appointed as the next Tottenham boss, he might want a significant degree of control over the club’s footballing operations.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not consider Slot’s inclination to micromanage as necessarily a negative as most top managers in world football are perfectionists.

It is clear that the 44-year-old maintains a good relationship with his players and the staff he works with, which would be the main consideration for Tottenham.
