Report explains how Harry Kane’s personal physio assisted with ankle knock

The Daily Mail have revealed that Harry Kane’s personal physio Dr Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco is currently in Qatar, assisting the striker with his recovery from the ankle knock that he sustained against Iran.

Kane appeared to have some discomfort in his ankle after being on the receiving end of a late lunging tackle from Morteza Pouraliganji at the start of the second half in the Three Lions’ 6-2 win over Iran on Monday.

The England captain does not seem to have suffered any major damage, with The Telegraph reporting on Wednesday that the results of the 29-year-old’s scan showed that he had not suffered ankle damage.

Jordan Pickford was asked about the Tottenham man in Wednesday’s press conference and the Everton man responded: “I think he’s fine” (Jacob Steinberg).

The Mail have now explained that Kane has been cleared to train after the scans confirmed that he had escaped serious damage.

The report states that the striker’s ankle will be heavily strapped as a precaution over the coming days and that he should be ready for England’s second group game against the United States on Friday, provided he does not suffer any adverse reaction.

The Mail further reveal that Dr. Alejandro Elorriaga Claraco is closely involved in the Spurs star’s recovery in Qatar.

Kane spoke in glowing terms about Claraco to The Daily Mirror back in September, crediting the physio with helping him overcome his hamstring and ankle issues.

The Spanish sports medicine specialist has worked with a host of sporting stars over the years, including Olympic gold medalists and US Open golf champion Justin Rose (The Times).

Spurs Web Opinion

Kane is at a stage in his career where he understands his body well, and I doubt he would have played on for another 20 minutes after that challenge on Monday had he felt that the injury could potentially be serious. So, I fully expect the Tottenham man to start against the United States.
