Report explains how much Ajax want for Spurs-linked Mohammed Kudus

The Sun have revealed that Ajax are ready to sell Tottenham target Mohammed Kudus in January for around £40m.

Spurs were one of the clubs who reportedly tried to sign Kudus back in the summer (GhanaWeb) and the North London club will be ruing the fact that they did not get a deal over the line in light of the midfielder’s brilliant displays in the Eredivisie this season.

The 22-year-old’s stock has only grown further in light of his performances in the group stages of the World Cup as he netted twice in three matches for Ghana in Qatar (Transfermarkt).

90 min reported last week that Tottenham face competition from the likes of Everton, Arsenal and Newcastle for Kudus in January.

The Sun have now reported that Spurs scouted the sent scouts to watch the attacking midfielder back in pre-season and that Antonio Conte’s men continue to have their eye on the Ajax star.

It is explained that the Ghanaian is open to moving to the Premier League but will only join a club who are in the Champions League.

The report adds that the £40m-rated star could thus wait until the summer to make a move so that he has clarity on who is in the Champions League next season.

Spurs Web Opinion

Any attacking midfielder that we sign is likely to be a bit-part squad player as Conte has not shown a willingness to use a 3-5-2 when his forwards are all fit.  So, it is unlikely that we would spend big on a player like Kudus or Maddison. I expect Spurs to go for a cheaper option like McKennie or Malinovskyi instead.
