Report explains how Pochettino currently feels about potential Spurs return

The Times have revealed that Mauricio Pochettino has made it clear that he is interested in returning to Tottenham Hotspur.

Sky Sports reported on Thursday that several senior members of the Tottenham squad, as well as some of the staff at the club, have pleaded with Pochettino to return.

The report explained that while Daniel Levy and some of Spurs’ directors look back fondly on the Argentine’s time at the club, they will not be swayed by emotion when making the decision.

However, The Athletic revealed yesterday that Tottenham have not yet reached out to their former manager regarding a reunion.

The report added that Fabio Paratici has been tasked with compiling a list of replacements for Antonio Conte and suggested that the Spurs managing director of football was unlikely to consider Pochettino.

If The Times’ latest update is to be believed, the former Tottenham boss would be in favour of a return to N17 if he is approached.

It is explained that the one fear the Spurs hierarchy have is that Pochettino would return a different coach to the one that was previously at the club and would not be able to mould the current squad in the same way he did when he arrived from Southampton in the summer of 2014.

Spurs Web Opinion

I was initially enthusiastic about the prospect of Pochettino returning.

However, the more I think about it, the better I understand Tottenham’s reservation about bringing the Argentine back.

I am still not completely against the idea of Poch returning but if Spurs are going to go for a progressive approach, it would be better to pursue a manager like De Zerbi whose career is clearly on an upward trajectory.
