The Guardian have claimed that despite Ralf Rangnick talking in glowing terms about Tottenham and urging Jurgen Nagelsmann to take the job, the former Man United manager is not likely to be open to joining the North London club as sporting director.
Nageslsmann is thought to be Tottenham’s top target to replace Antonio Conte and some outlets have reported over the last few days that the German would be open to taking over as long as some of his key demands are met, which include having a definitive say on transfers (Independent).
One man who certainly thinks Nagelsmann should say yes to the project in N17 is Rangnick, who suggested that everything is in place at Spurs to make the final step (Sky Sport Germany).
However, the 64-year-old did suggest that his compatriot would need a director of football to work with at Tottenham following Fabio Paratici’s resignation.
That might perhaps raise questions over whether Rangnick would be open to reuniting with Nagelsmann, having previously worked as the head of sport and development for Red Bull when the 35-year-old was at Leipzig.
However, The Guardian have suggested that the former Red Devils boss is ‘extremely unlikely’ to leave his role as Australia’s head coach until the European Championship in 2024.

Ragnick no longer enjoys the reputation as a sporting director that he held 4 or 5 years ago, particularly after making the shift to coaching.
Daniel Levy will want to replace Paratici with the best in class and it is quite possible that the Spurs chairman will take input from Nagelsmann regarding the type of director he would want to work with.
