Report explains key detail about Zaniolo’s release clause amid Spurs links

CalcioMercato have revealed that the release clause in Nicolo Zaniolo’s contract at Galatasaray will continue decreasing every year until 2025.

Zaniolo has been linked with a move to Tottenham in each of the last two transfer windows, with some reports even suggesting last month that the North London club were close to striking a deal with AS Roma for the 23-year-old (90 min).

In the end, Spurs decided to bolster their forward line with the acquisition of Arnaut Danjuma on loan instead while Italy international completed a move to Galatasaray for a fee of £19.5m, with his contract at the Turkish club thought to have a release clause of £31m (Fabrizio Romano).

CalcioMercato now explain that Spurs, Bournemouth and Milan tried to sign the winger during January and add that the Rrossoneri continue to be interested in the player.

Interestingly, the publication also explains that while Zaniolio’s release clause will be worth €35m (£31m) in the summer, it will reduce to between €28m-€30m (£24.8m-£26.3m) in 2024 and further to around €23m-€25m (£20m-£21.9m) in 2025.

Spurs Web Opinion

Even though Paratici is seemingly a fan of Zaniolo, I suspect Conte might have been the main driving force behind Tottenham’s interest in the winger.

So, I am not sure that the North Londoners will continue pursuing the 23-year-old, now that the 53-year-old looks set to depart at the end of the season.
