Report explains what Conte did in Spurs dressing room after Leicester defeat

Football.London have revealed that Antonio Conte did not speak to the Tottenham players in the dressing room following their 4-1 loss to Leicester City.

Conte might have been hoping for a gentle return to life at Tottenham after having surgery to remove his gallbladder last week but the Italian had to deal with a tumultuous few days.

In the days before Spurs’ trip to the King Power Stadium, it emerged that Hugo Lloris would miss six to eight weeks of action with a knee injury (Telegraph). while Yves Bissouma needed surgery on his ankle.

Not only did the Lilywhites proceed to get thumped on Saturday but they also lost one of their most important players to an ACL injury in Rodrigo Bentancur, who has now been ruled out for the rest of the season (Guardian).

One might have expected the Spurs players to have received a dressing-down from Conte after the final whistle but according to Football.London that did not happen.

The publication states that the 53-year-old did not say a single word to the squad as he felt that an angry, emotional rant would do his recovering body no favours.

Cristian Stellini also explained after the match that it was probably better to avoid confronting the players after the loss, with a huge Champions League clash coming up on Tuesday.

When asked if Conte spoke to the players, Stellini said (via Football.London): “No [he did not speak to them afterwards], it’s better probably to speak tomorrow about this game.

“We have to recover the energy because we have an important game Tuesday against Milan, an important club in the Champions League. The history of this club is important so we have to play a great match.”

All the momentum and the confidence that had built over the last couple of weeks on the back of the three consecutive wins has now been completely lost with that result.

Our season could essentially be all but over by Tuesday if we suffer another heavy defeat at the San Siro.
