Report explains when £40m Pedro Porro to Spurs deal could be completed

O Jogo have reported that everything now points towards Tottenham paying the full €45m (£39.6m) Sporting Lisbon want for right-wing-back Pedro Porro.

A deal has not yet been completed between the two clubs, however, the report does predict that it could be concluded as early as today.

Sporting and Spurs apparently have to ‘discuss payment methods, commissions and third-party shares relating to solidarity mechanism payments’.

The timing of the transfer is also said to be in discussion, as Sporting are in a League Cup final this weekend. Of course, this would present an opportunity for injury though.

The report also points out that despite Tottenham reaching the €45m price tag, which is the total in Porro’s release clause, they will not actually be triggering that clause. This gives them more wiggle room to come up with a better way to pay the amount.

Spurs Web Opinion:

This sounds like a fair deal for all involved. Sporting still get the money they wanted, but Spurs get to pay it in a sustainable way. I am uneasy about Porro playing in that final though as it would be very Tottenham for him to get injured.
