Report explains when Rodrigo Bentancur is now expected to return for Spurs

The Athletic have handed Tottenham a blow by revealing that Rodrigo Bentancur will not be available to play until November.

Bentancur had quickly evolved into one of Spurs’ most important players since arriving from Juventus and the in many respects, the Uruguayan, made Antonio Conte’s 3-4-3 formation tick with his ability to retain possession and play penetrative passes.

Unsurprisingly, since the 25-year-old ruptured a cruciate ligament in early February (Evening Standard), Tottenham’s form has gone from bad to worse.

On the back of the recent videos shared by the club of Bentancur working at Hotspur Way on his rehabilitation, Spurs fans might have been optimistic that he will be back out on the pitch soon.

However, The Athletic have now revealed that unlike his midfield partner, Yves Bissouma, who was named on the bench for today’s game against Crystal Palace, the former Juve man is not likely to feature until November.
