Report explains whether Spurs will appeal Conte red card for Marseille

The Evening Standard have reported that Tottenham will not appeal Antonio Conte’s red card against Sporting Lisbon, meaning he will be banned for the final Group D match away to Marseille.

Conte stormed onto the pitch in the dying seconds at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday as Harry Kane’s last-minute winner was chalked off after a lengthy VAR check.

The referee showed a straight red card to the Italian only, despite the majority of the coaching staff also being on the pitch.

Conte will not only be banned from the touchline in France, but also from the dressing room, limiting his impact on Tottenham’s must-not-lose game against Marseille.

Tottenham remain top of the Group D table and a draw would see them through to the knockouts in at least second place, but Conte will be wanting to see his side fight for all three points.

Spurs Web Opinion:

If the entire argument is that Conte was not the only one on the pitch, then I understand why they have not appealed. After all, what if UEFA turned around and gave the entire Spurs coaching team a red card too?!
