Report explains why Bryan Gil’s Sevilla situation may take turn for the worse

According to the print edition of ABC Sevilla (06/03/23 as relayed by Sport Witness), Bryan Gil could soon find himself in a tricky situation as the manager who brought him to Seville, Jorge Sampaoli, is facing the sack.

Gil’s spell at Sevilla got off to the perfect start as he found the back of the net in his first start back at the club in their 2-0 win over Mallorca on 11 February.

However, since then, it has all been downhill for the Nervionenses, who have taken just one point from their three games against Rayo Vallecano, Osasuna and Atletico Madrid, with Gil being benched for two of those matches.

The loss against Atletico was particularly ugly, with Diego Simeone’s side running out 6-1 winners as the on-loan Tottenham man came on for the final 12 minutes.

ABC Sevilla now state that, on the back of the loss in the Spanish capital, Sevilla are considering hiring their third manager of the season, with Sampaoli having taken over from Julen Lopetegui back in October.

The La Liga club are now said to be exploring possible options to replace Sampaoli, which is not good news for Gil since the Argentine was instrumental in bringing him to the club.

Sampaoli departing would be far from ideal for Gil as the 62-year-old knows the winger well, having worked with him in the past.

However, the Spaniard would still fancy his chances of making a good impression on the new manager (if the Argentine is sacked) and getting regular football under his belt over the coming months.
