Report explains why Harry Winks returned to London from Italy this week

Club Doria 46 have revealed that Harry Winks returned to London this week to get his injury checked by a specialist.

Winks has not been named in a single Sampdoria matchday squad nor has he been able to even train with his new teammates since making the loan move to the club during the summer.

The 26-year-old is continuing to recover from an ankle injury, with previous reports indicating that the Serie A club have been left frustrated by his lack of progress (La Repubblica – 15/10/22 via Sport Witness).

Club Doria 46 have now revealed that Winks returned to London over recent days to have a checkup with a specialist who he trusts, in order to get a better understanding of his condition.

The report states that the on-loan Spurs man came out ‘relieved’ from the meeting, which suggests that he got positive news. It is asserted that Winks has returned to Genoa ‘charged up’ and is continuing to work hard to make a swift return.

Club Doria 46 add that the England international is set to make another trip to London for a check-up before the end of the year, and is targeting the match against Sassuolo on January 4th for his return.

Reading between the lines, it does not seem like Winks would need to have another operation on his ankle, which is good news. The first half of the season has been a write-off for the 26-year-old but hopefully, the mid-season break for the World Cup gives him the time he needs to fully recover.
