Report explains why Spurs are ‘confident’ Radu Dragusin will adapt quickly

The Times have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are confident Radu Dragusin will adapt quickly to Spurs’ style of play and to Premier League football, given his personality and his intelligence.

A couple of days ago, Spurs Web relayed a report from The Athletic, which pointed out that Ange Postecoglou puts a lot of emphasis on a player’s character, with the Australian said to believe that attitude is more important than talent at the highest level.

The report explained that is exactly the reason why the Tottenham boss was keen on Timo Werner, with the 27-year-old being described as ‘highly motivated, conscientious, and team-focused’.

Dragusin ticks all the boxes for Ange Postecoglou

The Times have now reported the same information, explaining that Posteocglou has prioritised signing players with the right sort of personality.

The report states that the 58-year-old spoke to Dragusin on multiple occasions and assured the centre-back that he would be given opportunities to start in North London.

The publication adds that Spurs see the Romanian as a fast learner owing to his intelligence, with the young defender being capable of completing a Rubik’s Cube in just 45 seconds.

Dragusin also reportedly speaks good English, which is why Tottenham are confident that he will adapt quickly to his new surroundings. It is alleged that the Premier League side expect the 21-year-old to become one of the leaders of the dressing room.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Postecoglou may not criticise his players’ personalities publicly like Mourinho and Conte did on occasion, one can argue that he is even more ruthless than those two in terms of the attitude he demands from all of his players.

The way the Australian quickly shut the door on Djed Spence and Tanguy Ndombele at the start of pre-season (even though they both have the technical attributes to play in his system), was perhaps an indication of how much weight the 58-year-old puts on values like work ethic, humility and willingness to learn.
