Report: Fabio Paratici ‘close’ to confirming key Spurs appointment

Football.London have revealed that Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici is close to appointing his new number two.

Steve Hitchen, who was previously in the role, resigned from his position as technical performance director at the start of February.

According to The Athletic, the 45-year-old lost most of his power when it cames to the club’s managerial appointments and transfer targets following the arrival of Paratici when he was appointed last summer.

However, the report added that Paratici was good friends with Hitchen and was disappointed at the news of his resignation.

Football.London have now revealed that the Italian has conducted interviews with prospective candidates to replace Hitchen as his number two.

It is explained that the club are close to confirming the appointment, with the newcomer likely to come from abroad.

The new appointment will be in place to help Tottenham with their plans for the summer transfer window and will play a role in helping Paratici overhaul the various footballing departments inside the club.

Spurs Web Opinion

Our recruitment has left a lot to be desired right from the time that Paul Mitchell left the club. So, there is no doubt that the department needs to be overhauled as Paratici is going to need all the help he can get.

Our best shot of closing the gap with the likes of Man City and Chelsea is to be smart with our recruitment (as Liverpool have been over recent years), given that we cannot go toe-to-toe with them for big names in the transfer market.
