Football Insider have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have entrusted their former managing director, Fabio Paratici, with the task of spearheading the search for a top-class number nine in the summer.
The report says that Spurs wish to sign a marquee centre-forward to fill Harry Kane’s shoes and have already begun laying the groundwork for such as signing before the transfer window reopens in June.
It is explained that while those at the club realise that the England captain is virtually irreplaceable, they are looking for a striker in a similar mould.

Ange Postecoglou allegedly wants a number nine who can play with his back to goal, link up with the likes of Son Heung-min and James Maddison, and be deadly in and around the box.
The report adds that Paratici, who is still working on a consultancy basis for the North London side, is now spearheading the search using his contacts in the game and expertise in the market.

There is certainly not an abundance of top-quality number nines who will guarantee goals but are also capable of holding up the ball and linking up play outside the box.
Unless Spurs are shopping for the best in class and pursuing someone like Ivan Toney, they would almost be better off signing an up-and-coming young striker and allowing him to develop under Ange Postecoglou.
