Report: Fabio Paratici puts deal ‘on hold’ to focus on other transfers

Fabio Paratici has reportedly put the swap deal for Bryan Gil ‘on hold’ to pursue other transfer activities, according to ABC Sevilla.

The 20-year-old playmaker cannot fully complete his move until he finishes representing Spain at the Olympics in Tokyo.

The swap deal with Sevilla involves Erik Lamela moving to the Spanish club and Gil heading to North London with Tottenham paying a €25 million fee.

Gil impressed on loan at Eibar last season, scoring four goals and providing three assists in La Liga.

The 20-year-old was expected to be part of Sevilla’s first-team plans next season after spending two seasons away from the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on loan and now appears to be on his way to Spurs.

Tottenham confirmed their first signing of the summer yesterday following the arrival of Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan with the option to buy, while the club are also said to be in advanced talks over a move for his team-mate Cristian Romero (Football.London).

Paratici had a slow start but has really ramped up an impressive pace in the transfer market. The Gil deal will be good one, but clearly just needs time to be fully completed. Patience is a trait learned by many a Spurs fan so this shouldn’t be a problem.

Gollini will provide brilliant competition for Hugo Lloris, while Romero would be a huge addition to our defence.
