Report: Fabio Paratici tried to bring 21-year-old to Spurs this summer

Calciomercato have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur expressed an interest in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia this summer but lost out to Napoli in the race for the winger.

Kvaratskhelia hit the limelight due to his impressive performances for Ruben Kazan over the last couple of years but the winger terminated his contract following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and signed a two-year deal with Georgian club Dinamo Batumi (Il Mattino).

Spurs were backed to make a push for the 21-year-old during this summer’s transfer window (Gazzetta dello Sport) but he ended up completing a move to Naples.

Kvaratskhelia has enjoyed an impressive start to life at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, with his best performance so far this season coming in the Serie A club’s 4-1 demolition of Liverpool this week.

CalcioMercato explain there were other clubs in for the Georgian international’s signature over the past couple of years.

It is asserted that Juventus had practically agreed on a deal for Kvaratskhelia during Fabio Paratici’s time at the club but the move collapsed after the Italian departed Turin.

The report explains that Paratici also attempted to take the winger to Spurs this summer but the North London club only made a loan offer for the youngster.

In the end, it was Napoli who sunk a defining blow in the transfer market and snapped up the starlet.

Spurs Web Opinion

While there is no doubt about Kvaratskhelia’s quality, much like Bryan Gil, Conte might have had reservations about whether the 21-year-old would be a good fit for the Premier League. I am not surprised that Spurs decided against taking a punt on the youngster.
