Report: Fabio Paratici weighing up bid for French winger

Tottenham Hotspur are mulling over whether to make an approach to Newcastle United for Allan Saint-Maximin, according to Football.London.

The report claims that Spurs’ managing director of football Fabio Paratici is a big admirer of the winger, who has caught the eye with his performances for the Magpies.

With Steven Bergwijn having been linked with a move to Ajax, there is likely to be a requirement for cover to come in on the left flank for the likes of Heung-min Son and Lucas Moura.

The 25-year-old is known for his trickery on the ball played a key role in helping Eddie Howe’s side avoid relegation and ended up registering a respectable eleventh place finish in the Premier League.

The Frenchman admitted last month that he does not expect to leave Newcastle this summer and is happy at the club (Goal).

Newcastle are not exactly short of money and it would take a sizeable bid for them to part company with the Tyneside fan favourite. Saint-Maximin would certainly provide width to the side with his pace causing the opposition problems, but it seems unlikely that the Saudis would entertain an approach.
