Report: ‘Fears growing’ over Antonio Conte’s future if not backed in transfer window

The Daily Mirror claim there are fears that Antonio Conte could walk away if he is not backed in the transfer window are growing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Conte has admitted on multiple occasions that there is a big gap in terms of quality between the Spurs squad and the best sides in the Premier League (Sky Sports).

The Italian stated last week following Tottenham’s dramatic late comeback against Leicester that the Lilywhites need to bring players in before the January transfer window closes (Football.London).

However, with less than a week left until the window slams shut, Spurs are yet to bring any new players through the door.

According to the likes of Alasdair Gold, that is expected to change over the coming days, with Spurs set to have a busy end to the window both in terms of incomings and outgoings.

The Mirror have now suggested that there are fears at the club that Conte could decide to leave if he is not backed by the club.

It is said that amid Daniel Levy’s reluctance to bring in the Italian’s targets, the former Inter boss could potentially throw in the towel, just three months on from taking the job.

Conte has shown during his managerial career that he is ready to walk away if he feels he is not being supported. However, reports like this are completely baseless.

The fact that Mirror do not lend this information to ‘sources at the club’, suggests that they are making unsubstantiated claims for sensationalism.
